Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Greetings
I am Jaioni Star Hunter, a sophomore at Neville High school. My passion, motivation, and comfort has been in dance for as long as I can remember. I am a member of two award winning teams: Carolyn’s Dance Land and The Bengal Belles.  Since 2nd grade, I have been a gifted and talented student and I have always had a love for science. Outside of school, I attend Parkview Drive Church of Christ. I proudly serve as member of the Christian Charm Class, and The Cinderella Social Organization.
My life has always been quite busy and rewarding.  However, at the age of 11, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes). I was forced to grow up quickly. Type 1 is quite different from the common Type 2 Diabetes. The beta cells in my pancreas just decided to stop working, resulting in my body not being able to produce insulin.
My Diabetes isn’t caused by an unhealthy lifestyle or poor diet. I am now 15 and I live a very productive and healthy lifestyle.   I only have one exception; I must put insulin into my body.  There is currently no cure for Type 1 Diabetes and very little awareness or education in our area.
I have started a foundation “Dia-BEAT-it” From Type 1 to Type None. It is my desire to bring awareness, education, family networking, and most importantly contributions toward the research in finding a cure for myself and many others. I have scheduled a 2.5K walk/ run-a-thon on November 9, 2019 at 9:00am at Forsythe Park, Monroe, Louisiana. This will be my second annual Dia-BEAT-it walk/run, and this is our one and only fundraiser for the year.  Last year, we were able to reach over 300 participants and 25 businesses and sponsors.
This year, it is my goal to exceed both numbers. With the help of the community, Dia-Beat-it was able to make a significant donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, host a Nutrition class, and assist local diabetics with insulin and supply purchases.
I am imploring your help in making this year’s event a huge success.  Together we can make a difference right here in our community. Please click the registration or sponsorship tab.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
